#74 – Rachel Riley

Rachel Annabelle Riley
January 11, 1986
Paddington, London, England
Countdown presenter

Rachel was conceived in 1986; that is four years after her ancestor Carol Vorderman started taking a shot at Countdown.

She went to Oxford University, where she examined maths. Bad-to-the-bone.

In 2009 she was enlisted by the Post Office to enable holidaymakers to get the most out of their outside money.

Following 26 years of giving us one from the main, three from the base and two from anyplace else, maths minx Carol Vorderman resigned from Countdown in 2008, abandoning shoes that huge numbers of us felt were dreadfully huge for any other individual to ever fill. (Not truly, you get it. We’re not saying that Carol Vorderman has shockingly enormous feet. It’s an analogy.) But then came Essex-raised, Oxford-instructed, paradise sent Rachel Riley, whose entry implied that the show could go ahead in just as hot a way as it had done some time recently.

Not that Rachel was warmly gotten by each Countdown fan she at first got what’s coming to her of negative input from diehard Vorderman fans. “That truly hurt,” concedes Riley. We have a Countdown problem for those individuals: “UPYOUSR.”
